Azerbaijan and Pan-African Parliament Discuss Strengthening Parliamentary Diplomacy

Baku: Huseyn Rahimli, Azerbaijani Ambassador to South Africa, met with Fateh Boutbig, President of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP). Ambassador Rahimli extended his congratulations to Boutbig on his recent appointment as PAP President, expressing his hopes for successful collaboration between PAP and Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Ambassador Rahimli emphasized the importance that Milli Majlis places on developing relations with African parliaments both bilaterally and through international platforms. He highlighted the significant potential for cooperation in these areas. Fateh Boutbig acknowledged that strengthening collaboration between PAP and Milli Majlis, as well as with the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, would support the core objectives of parliamentary diplomacy, including dialogue and collective action.

Ambassador Rahimli also briefed Boutbig on Azerbaijan's democratic, legal, and economic reforms. He discussed the large-scale restoration efforts in the liberated territories under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev after Azerbaijan's victory in the Patriotic War, as well as the ongoing landmine threat in those areas.
