Baku: Azerbaijan and Serbia are working to strengthen their economic and energy cooperation, as highlighted during a recent meeting between Sahil Babayev, Azerbaijan's Minister of Finance, and Dubravka edovic Handanovic, Serbia's Minister of Mining and Energy. During the meeting, both parties discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral energy sector collaboration.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Minister Sahil Babayev emphasized the strategic partnership between the two nations, noting that their cooperation is built on a robust legal framework and high-level political dialogue. He pointed out that various signed agreements, along with the efforts of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Strategic Partnership Council, are pivotal in further expanding cooperation.

A key highlight of their energy collaboration is the delivery of Azerbaijani gas to Serbia through the Bulgaria-Serbia interconnector, which began in 2023. Minister Babayev mentioned that this agreement has been extended until the end of 2026, ensuring the continuation of gas supplies.

Minister Dubravka edovic highlighted the importance of enhancing energy cooperation in a mutually beneficial manner. She referred to an agreement signed in February 2026 that plans for the construction of a gas turbine power plant in Serbia, which is expected to bolster regional energy security.

Additionally, the meeting covered discussions on expanding collaboration in oil, petroleum products, electricity, and renewable energy sources, aiming to further deepen the partnership between Azerbaijan and Serbia.
