Azerbaijan and Somalia Discuss Future Energy Collaborations

Istanbul: On the margins of the Istanbul Natural Resources Summit in Trkiye, Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, engaged in discussions with Dahir Shire Mohamed, Somalia's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the discussions centered around the existing oil and gas Memorandum of Understanding between Azerbaijan and Somalia, along with the formation of a Joint Working Group. The dialogue explored Somalia's hydrocarbon resources and its ongoing collaboration with the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO).

The meeting also evaluated the potential for further cooperation between the two countries, particularly in terms of educational opportunities for Somali students in Azerbaijan's oil and gas sector. Additionally, the Azerbaijani side extended an invitation to Somalia to participate in the 'Baku Energy Week'.
