Madrid:Elnur Mammadov, Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister, visited Spain on October 7-8 for the fifth round of political consultations between Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, while the Spanish delegation was headed by Diego Martinez Belio, State Secretary for Foreign and Global Affairs. The discussions covered various areas such as political, economic, energy, green energy, cultural, educational, tourism, and transport and logistics relations between the two countries. The consultations also addressed trade and investment promotion and cooperation through the Strategic Economic Dialogue.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continued mutual support within international organizations and explored opportunities for exchanging experiences in humanitarian demining. The Azerbaijani delegation also held meetings with Pilar Sanchez-Bella Solis, Director for International Affairs at the Office of the Spanish President, and Javier Maroto, Vice-President of the Senate of Spain, focusing on parliamentary diplomacy and inter-parliamentary relations.
Elnur Mammadov gave a presentation on 'Azerbaijan's Foreign Policy' at the Diplomatic School of Spain and provided interviews to Spanish media on the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan-Spain relations.
