Turkmenbashi:Relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are rooted in longstanding ties of friendship and brotherhood, forming a strategic partnership, according to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. He made these remarks during a speech at the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Turkmenbashi.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, President Aliyev expressed his gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, for his hospitality. He noted that each visit to Turkmenistan leaves a significant impression and highlighted the dynamic development of the country, which he described as a source of great satisfaction.
President Aliyev emphasized the positive impact of high-level engagements between the two nations, recalling his visit to Turkmenistan in August 2025. He also mentioned that Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, visited Azerbaijan twice last year, while President Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a state visit to Azerbaijan in June. These interactions, he stated, have invigorated bilateral relations and opened new avenues for cooperation.
Additionally, President Aliyev remarked on the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). He acknowledged the CIS as a vital platform that facilitates political dialogue, fosters mutually beneficial cooperation, and strengthens ties among its member states.
