Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan Formalize Bilateral Agreements in Document Exchange Ceremony

Baku: A ceremony for the exchange of documents signed between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan was held on June 22, with the participation of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the two leaders signed a Joint Statement to reinforce their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations. Additionally, several key agreements and memorandums of understanding were exchanged between officials from both countries, covering a wide range of sectors including customs, sports, labor, healthcare, and energy.

Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Baghirov and Chairman of the Customs Service of Turkmenistan Maksat Hudaykuliyev exchanged documents concerning the exchange of information on goods and vehicles, as well as cooperation in customs statistics related to mutual trade.

In the field of sports, Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov and Turkmenistan's Chairman of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports Allaberdi Saparov exchanged a memorandum of understanding to foster cooperation.

Labor and social protection were also addressed, with Azerbaijan's Minister Anar Aliyev and Turkmenistan's Minister Muhammetseyit Sylapov exchanging a memorandum on cooperation in these areas.

Health sector collaboration was marked by an exchange between Azerbaijan's Minister of Health Teymur Musayev and Turkmenistan's Minister of Health and Medical Industry Myratberdi Gayypov, focusing on healthcare cooperation.

Additionally, Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov exchanged several agreements with Turkmen counterparts, covering food safety, industry cooperation for 2026-2028, agricultural cooperation, financial cooperation, and economic development.

The energy sector agreement was facilitated by Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and Turkmenistan's Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Chairman of the Turkmennebit State Concern Guvanch Agajanov.

Moreover, Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov and Turkmenistan's Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov exchanged a cooperation program for 2026-2029, further solidifying the diplomatic ties between the two nations.

This document exchange ceremony reflects the commitment of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan to strengthen their bilateral relations across a spectrum of critical sectors, fostering mutual growth and cooperation.
