Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan Strengthen Bilateral Ties Through Document Exchange

Baku: A ceremony marking the exchange of signed documents between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan took place on June 22, attended by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Both leaders signed a Joint Statement, underscoring their commitment to enhancing collaboration between the two nations.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, key figures from both countries participated in the exchange of several agreements. Shahin Baghirov, Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, and Maksat Hudaykuliyev, Chairman of the Customs Service of Turkmenistan, exchanged technical specifications for the initial exchange of information on goods and vehicles transported between the two countries. Additionally, they exchanged a protocol on cooperation in the field of customs statistics of mutual trade.

In the domain of sports, Farid Gayibov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports, and Allaberdi Saparov, Chairman of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan, exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in sports.

Anar Aliyev, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Azerbaijan, and Muhammetseyit Sylapov, his Turkmen counterpart, exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in labor and social protection.

Health cooperation was also highlighted with the exchange between Azerbaijan's Minister of Health, Teymur Musayev, and Turkmenistan's Minister of Health and Medical Industry, Myratberdi Gayypov. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in healthcare.

Further agreements were signed concerning food safety, industry cooperation for 2026-2028, and energy. Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy, and Toyguly Nurov, Turkmenistan's Minister of Industry and Construction Production, exchanged agreements in these areas.

Agricultural cooperation was addressed in a Memorandum of Understanding exchanged between Jabbarov and Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan. They also exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Central Bank of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan.

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Rashid Meredov, Turkmenistan's Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, signed a Cooperation Program for 2026-2029, further solidifying the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
