Baku: Teymur Musayev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Health, recently met with a delegation headed by Lord John Alderdice, the UK Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan and Central Asia, to explore potential cooperation in the healthcare sector.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting included Fergus Auld, the UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan, and Alexander Tyrrell, the Country Director of the UK Department for Business and Trade. Minister Musayev highlighted the dynamic development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the UK, attributing this progress to the foundational visits by National Leader Heydar Aliyev to the UK in 1994 and 1998. These visits laid the groundwork for extensive collaboration between the two nations.

Minister Musayev emphasized President Ilham Aliyev’s dedication to citizen health, particularly focusing on the families of martyrs and war veterans. He noted that supporting these families is a priority of state policy, with numerous medical services offered at the Ministry’s Sanatorium and Resort Rehabilitation Center. The Azerbaijani Health Minister expressed optimism about the continued development of cooperation in scientific-medical and other areas.

Lord John Alderdice reiterated the UK’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with Azerbaijan, stressing that the cooperation extends beyond trade and investment to long-term partnerships and mutual benefits. He commended Azerbaijan’s efforts to support martyrs’ families and war veterans and affirmed the UK’s willingness to assist in these initiatives.

The meeting concluded with discussions on other mutual interests, reflecting the ongoing commitment to enhancing bilateral relations.
