Baku: A commemoration event dedicated to the memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, the architect and founder of independent Azerbaijan, the great statesman Heydar Aliyev, was held at the Ministry of Energy. The event began with a minute of silence in honor of the cherished memory of the National Leader.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Deputy Minister of Energy Samir Valiyev emphasized the importance of preserving and conveying to future generations the eternal legacy that Heydar Aliyev left to the Azerbaijani people and state. He noted that the National Leader’s statecraft, farsightedness, and determination guided Azerbaijan through difficult periods, laying the foundation for a strong and independent state. Heydar Aliyev’s oil strategy, particularly the Contract of the Century, marked a turning point in Azerbaijan’s economic revival. This historic agreement paved the way for attracting foreign investment, restructuring the oil and gas sector, and strengthening economic independence, forming the basis for Azerbaijan’s sustainable development. The Deputy Minister also highlighted that this political course is being continued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
Following the speeches, the participants watched a video dedicated to the life and work of the National Leader. During the event, speakers underscored Heydar Aliyev’s efforts aimed at protecting Azerbaijan’s national interests on the international stage and informing the global community about the occupation of Azerbaijani territories. They noted that the dreams of the National Leader, who consistently advocated for the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, were fulfilled under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, with the liberation of the Azerbaijani lands from occupation.
Speakers also emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev, the successor of the National Leader, is advancing the political course established by the National Leader in accordance with new historical realities. As a result of this policy, Azerbaijan has become the creator of new political and economic realities in the region. Large-scale restoration and construction work has been carried out in the liberated territories, new projects have been implemented in the energy sector, and the expansion of international cooperation confirms the continuation of Heydar Aliyev’s legacy.
