Tashkent: Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, Ramin Mammadov, met with Muzaffar Kamilov, Head of the Department for Religious and Educational Affairs of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan, on July 7 during his visit to Tashkent to participate in the First International Islamic Civilization Forum.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the discussions focused on the dynamic development of strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, facilitated by the political will and efforts of the leaders of both nations.
Both parties acknowledged the broadening cooperation in various sectors, notably religious affairs. The bilateral ties, grounded in mutual trust and shared historical and cultural values, serve as a cooperation model. The meeting underscored the importance of the First Meeting of Heads of State Bodies Responsible for Religious Affairs of the Turkic States Organization, which took place in Shusha, Azerbaijan. This meeting was highlighted as a significant step towards enhancing institutional cooperation in religious matters within the Turkic world.
The Communiqu© adopted at the Shusha meeting was recognized for establishing a framework to identify priority cooperation areas. There was an exchange of views on enhancing collaboration between the relevant state institutions of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan through experience sharing, joint project implementation, and deeper cooperation in religious education and awareness.
The meeting attendees, including Chairman of Uzbekistan's Committee on Religious Affairs Sodik Toshboyev, emphasized that the First International Islamic Civilization Forum plays a crucial role in promoting the rich heritage of Islamic civilization, advancing educational traditions, and strengthening intercultural dialogue.
