Baku: The football federations of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have submitted a joint bid to host the 2027 U-20 World Cup, APA reports. FIFA has begun evaluating bids for this prominent tournament. The federations aim to capitalize on recent reforms in football, robust infrastructure, and the increased international standing of Turkic-speaking countries as they express their readiness to host the event.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have highlighted their preparedness to organize the competition. Several stadiums in Azerbaijan meet international standards, and the country has accumulated considerable experience in hosting major tournaments such as matches of EURO-2020, the UEFA Europa League final, the UEFA European Under-17 Championship, and the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Officials from FIFA and UEFA have commended the quality of these events held in Baku.
