Azerbaijan and Vietnam Bolster Strategic Partnership with Media Cooperation

Baku:A meeting took place at the Central Office of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) involving Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman of YAP and Head of the Central Office, and a delegation from Vietnam led by Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Review journal.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting highlighted the deep historical roots of Azerbaijan-Vietnam relations, dating back to the Soviet era. The significance of past visits by Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh to Azerbaijan in 1959 and National Leader Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam in 1983 was emphasized, showcasing the long-standing friendship between the two nations.

Both parties acknowledged that Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and Vietnam's General Secretary To Lam prioritize bilateral cooperation. The restoration of Azerbaijan's independence and subsequent diplomatic engagements have paved the way for stronger ties.

Key visits, including President Ilham Aliyev's 2014 trip to Vietnam and Vietnamese leaders' visits to Azerbaijan, have significantly advanced economic, political, and cultural cooperation. These visits laid the groundwork for the Strategic Partnership established on May 7, 2025.

The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between the New Azerbaijan Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam, strengthened by a Cooperation Agreement in 2023. Regular contacts and mutual visits between the parties are seen as crucial for enhancing bilateral relations.

A major focus was placed on media cooperation, with emphasis on continuous information exchange and combating disinformation. The parties agreed that such efforts are vital for supporting national interests and advancing the strategic partnership on the global stage.
