Azerbaijan Approves Amendments to European Bank Agreement

BAKU: Azerbaijan has approved amendments to the Agreement Establishing the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), as President Ilham Aliyev signed a law enacting these changes. This move formalizes the country's membership in the EBRD, granting Azerbaijan access to the bank's financial support and technical assistance aimed at bolstering the private sector and facilitating economic reforms. According to Trend News Agency, the amendments were adopted through resolutions No. 259 and 260 by the EBRD's Board of Directors on May 18, 2023. These changes aim to expand the bank's operational reach and improve the flexibility of capital management mechanisms. The law, titled "On the Approval of the Agreement Establishing the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development," reflects Azerbaijan's commitment to leveraging EBRD resources for national economic development. The newly adopted amendments are part of a draft law titled "On the Approval of Amendments to the Agreement Establishing the Europ ean Bank for Reconstruction and Development." These revisions present provisions in a new format, designed to enhance the bank's operational capabilities.
