Baku: Men in Azerbaijan will now be eligible for 14 days of paid leave surrounding the birth of their child. This new provision, based on a medical certificate, comes as a result of proposed amendments to the Labor Code, which were discussed in a session of the Milli Majlis.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the current system allows men to take up to 14 days of unpaid leave within a working year if their wives are on maternity leave. The amendments aim to promote gender equality by converting this into a paid leave of 14 calendar days, covering both pre- and postnatal periods. The draft law was successfully put to a vote and adopted in its third reading.
