Baku: Pursuant to the training plan for 2026, the opening ceremony of the Judo, Greco-Roman, and Freestyle wrestling championships was held across the Azerbaijan Army.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the ceremonies began with a tribute to the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland. The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed with the accompaniment of a military band.

Following the tribute, the composition of the participating teams was verified, and athletes were briefed on the purpose of the competition and safety rules. Additionally, the chief judges for all three competitions were introduced to the participants.

On the first day of the competition, the athletes' weight categories were checked, and both individual and team matches commenced. A total of 297 athletes from 11 teams are competing in 10 weight categories across each sport.
