Baku: Azerbaijan has taken legal action against three foreign nationals following their arrest for filming and sharing videos of indecent acts in Martyrs' Alley, a significant site in Baku. The individuals, who were detained by police, are facing a preventive measure of arrest for a duration of three months, as determined by the Sabail District Court.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the investigation into the incident commenced after the video footage was discovered on social networks on August 17. The footage, which depicted the tourists engaging in offensive behavior, prompted immediate action from the Azerbaijani authorities. The three individuals, identified as tourists who arrived in Baku on August 13 for a five-day visit, have been charged under Article 245 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to offensive acts on a grave.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs' Press Service informed Azeri-Press News Agency that police officers conducted thorough investigative measures, leading to the detention and questioning of the accused. The case highlights Azerbaijan's strict stance on protecting the sanctity of Martyrs' Alley, a site of great national importance.
