Izmir: Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce misses the chance to open the Turkish Super Lig with a win in an away match against Goztepe on Saturday, as 31-year-old Brazilian Anderson Talisca fails to convert a last-minute penalty.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the match, played at Gursel Aksel Stadium, was silenced until the second half as the home team was reduced to 10 players after Juan was sent off with a red card. The visiting side also went down to 10 men in the 85th minute when Jayden Oosterwolde received a second yellow card and was sent off.
In the final minutes of added time, Fenerbahce had the chance to secure three points when the referee awarded a penalty. Talisca stepped up in the 95th minute, but Goztepe goalkeeper Lis saved the effort, ensuring the match ended without goals.
