Baku—Azerbaijan is enhancing its position as a key regional transit hub through the digitalization of transit procedures, as detailed by Bahruz Guliyev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, at the Azerbaijan Trade Forum on "Opportunities, Current Situation, and Challenges for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)."

According to Trend News Agency, Guliyev highlighted the significant strides Azerbaijan is making in simplifying and digitalizing customs operations to boost efficiency and reduce operational costs. "One of our priorities is simplifying and digitalizing customs operations, which will reduce costs and increase the efficiency of processes. We are implementing innovative solutions and modern risk management methods, allowing us to automate a significant portion of customs procedures," he explained.

The digital initiatives include the introduction of new electronic services and the development of a digital infrastructure that positions Azerbaijan's customs control system among the most advanced and user-friendly globally. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to amplify the country's role as a transit hub. "Through our initiatives, we pay special attention to enhancing the country's transit potential. The digitalization of transit procedures and participation in international systems allow us to strengthen Azerbaijan's position as an important transit hub in the region," Guliyev added.

Further, Guliyev outlined the committee's commitment to creating a conducive environment for foreign investments and boosting non-oil exports. Efforts are underway to simplify customs procedures and elevate the competitiveness of national products on the international stage. "In this regard, projects have been implemented to simplify customs procedures and enhance the competitiveness of national products. We aim for our customs service to not only meet international standards but to set new benchmarks in customs administration, facilitating free and secure trade," he said.
