Azerbaijan Border Service Thwarts Drug Smuggling Attempt from Iran


Horadiz: Azerbaijan’s State Border Service successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle over 10 kilograms of marijuana from Iran into the country, officials reported. The operation took place on October 26 at 16:40 in the area patrolled by the “Horadiz” border detachment.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Border Service’s Press Center revealed that the border troops conducted a search and operational measures leading to the prevention of smuggling 10 kilograms and 96 grams of marijuana. The narcotics were intended to be illegally transported from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Authorities have stated that operative-investigative measures are ongoing in relation to the incident, as efforts continue to uncover further details and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
