Azerbaijan Calls for Accountability of Armenian War Criminals

Baku: Azerbaijan has called on Armenia to take responsibility for war crimes and to hold those accountable for acts committed during the decades-long conflict between the two nations, according to a statement by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, who also heads the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, new mass graves have been discovered in the Sirkhavand village, which was recently liberated from Armenian occupation. He noted that more than 4,000 Azerbaijanis were tortured to death in concentration camps and buried in mass graves during Armenia’s 30-year-long military aggression against Azerbaijan. Hajiyev criticized Armenia for failing to punish those responsible and for withholding information about the location of the graves. He urged Armenia to demonstrate a genuine commitment to transitional justice and post-conflict reconciliation by investigating and prosecuting those responsible for these crimes.
