Azerbaijan Car Import Value Rises Despite Decrease in Units


Baku: Azerbaijan spent $1.8 billion on car imports last year, reflecting a significant financial commitment to the automotive sector despite a reduction in the total number of vehicles brought into the country.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, 91,838 cars valued at a total of $1 billion 844 million 157 thousand were imported into Azerbaijan in 2024. This represents a decrease of 4.3% or 4,133 units compared to 2023. Despite the drop in the number of imported cars, the overall value of these imports rose by 9.7% or $163.5 million from the previous year.



In 2023, Azerbaijan imported 95,971 cars with a total value of $1 billion 680 million 652 thousand. The data also highlights that of the vehicles imported in 2024, 3,027 were powered solely by electric engines, and 10,382 were hybrid vehicles, indicating a growing interest in environmentally friendly transportation options.
