Azerbaijan Carpet Production Skyrockets by 28.5 Times in Four Months

Baku: Carpet production in Azerbaijan has surged dramatically in the first four months of this year, with an increase of 28.5 times compared to the same period last year. In January-April, the country produced 28.5 thousand square meters of carpets and carpet products, marking a significant rise in the industry.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Statistical Committee reported that as of May 1, industrial enterprises had a stock of 5 thousand square meters of finished carpet products in their warehouses. This remarkable growth in production highlights Azerbaijan's expanding capabilities in the carpet manufacturing sector.

During the reporting period, the nation exported carpets and other textile floor coverings worth 66.59 thousand US dollars to various foreign markets. In contrast, the value of carpets and other textile floor coverings imported into Azerbaijan reached 6 million 425.88 thousand US dollars. This indicates a substantial demand for imported carpet products within the country.

The statistics for January-March reveal that Azerbaijan primarily imported carpets from Trkiye, Iran, and China. The significant import values underline the strong market presence and influence these countries have in Azerbaijan's carpet sector.
