Azerbaijan Celebrates Centennial of Its First Electrified Railway Line

Baku: Azerbaijan marks a significant milestone with the 100th anniversary of the Baku-Sabunchu-Surakhani railway line, the first electrified railway in Azerbaijan and the former USSR. The Azerbaijan Railways CJSC highlighted the historical importance of this line to APA, noting its pivotal role in the development of the country's transportation infrastructure.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Baku-Sabunchu electrified railway station, constructed during this era, emerged as a crucial transport hub in Azerbaijan. It facilitated faster and more convenient travel for thousands of passengers, including oil workers and industrial employees, to suburban areas around Baku and other regions.

The statement from Azerbaijan Railways CJSC emphasized that the legacy of this century-old railway continues as it evolves into more modern and sustainable lines, ensuring its relevance for the future.
