JABRAYIL: Azerbaijan marked the fourth anniversary of the liberation of the Khudafarin Bridge and surrounding territories in the Jabrayil district, a significant event that ended 27 years of Armenian control in the area. The national tricolor flag was hoisted above the bridge, symbolizing Azerbaijan's restored sovereignty. According to Trend News Agency, on October 18, 2020, during the 22nd day of the Patriotic War that commenced on September 27, 2020, Azerbaijani forces successfully reclaimed the Khudafarin Bridge from occupation. The bridge, a historic and architectural monument, dates back to the 12th and 13th centuries and includes structures with 15 and 11 spans, respectively. These bridges are not only crucial pieces of Azerbaijani heritage but also served as vital passages along the ancient Silk Road. The liberation of the Khudafarin Bridge was part of a broader military campaign that lasted just 44 days. Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani army and the united efforts of i ts people led to the liberation of territories under Armenian occupation for nearly three decades, reaffirming Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. Following the 44-day Second Karabakh War, President Aliyev extended an offer of peace to Armenia to foster lasting peace in the region. However, Armenia declined this offer, leading to further tensions marked by accusations of terrorist activities and provocations. In response, Azerbaijan undertook anti-terror actions which resulted in the disarmament of Armenian forces and the arrest of key separatist leaders, thereby dismantling the illegal junta in Karabakh.
