Baku: Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry has issued a strong statement condemning drone attacks against the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which were launched from Iranian territory. At around midday on March 5, drones targeted the region, striking the terminal building of the Nakhchivan airport and landing near a school in the village of Shakarabad, resulting in damage and injuries to two civilians.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has demanded an explanation from Iran, calling for a swift investigation and measures to prevent future incidents. The Ministry emphasized that these attacks violate international law and escalate regional tensions. In response, Azerbaijan reserves the right to take appropriate measures.
The Ministry has summoned Mojtaba Demirchilou, Iran's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, to convey a strong protest and deliver a formal note of protest.
