Azerbaijan Criticizes Iran for Lack of Azerbaijani-Language Education

Baku:The Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan has issued a statement criticizing Iran for not providing education in the Azerbaijani language in any of its schools. This statement highlights the absence of Azerbaijani-language education in both schools and higher education institutions across Iran.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the Ministry's statement emphasizes that approximately 40 million ethnic Azerbaijanis in Iran have been deprived of the right to be educated in their native language for decades. The Ministry urges Iranian officials, including the Minister of Science, Research, and Technology, to focus on resolving this issue and eliminating what it describes as "unprecedented injustice."

The statement also responds to recent remarks by Iran's Minister of Science, Research, and Technology, Hossein Simaei-Sarraf, who opposed the introduction of a unified school uniform in Azerbaijan. Simaei-Sarraf stated that Iranian universities are willing to provide a "free educational environment" for Azerbaijani girls, insisting that school uniforms should not hinder education. The Azerbaijani Ministry suggests that Iranian authorities should prioritize addressing the lack of Azerbaijani-language education instead of commenting on Azerbaijan's domestic policies.
