Astara:Comprehensive operational-search and customs control measures by Astara Customs Department officials have led to the discovery and seizure of large quantities of narcotic drugs, according to the State Customs Committee.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, a cargo vehicle arriving from Iran was inspected at the Astara customs post. Although no concealed items were initially found, the driver's suspicious behavior prompted a personal search.
During the search, customs officers discovered 3,000 methadone tablets in three packages strapped to the driver's waist with a corset. Additional customs control measures revealed the driver had discarded two packages onto the customs post territory.
These packages contained a substantial quantity of homemade heroin, with a total net weight of 2 kilograms and 950 grams. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
