Azerbaijan Defense Minister Engages with U.S. Central Command Leader

Baku: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, engaged in a notable meeting with the Commander of the U.S. Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, during a visit that took place on October 18. The meeting, as reported by the Ministry of Defense, was covered by APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the U.S. delegation began their visit by paying tribute to the memory of Martyrs at the Alley of Martyrs. Colonel General Hasanov welcomed the guests and provided an overview of the ongoing reforms within the Azerbaijan Army, highlighting the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, who serves as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

Colonel General Hasanov expressed satisfaction with the bilateral cooperation and existing relations between Azerbaijan and the United States. Admiral Brad Cooper reciprocated the warm welcome, acknowledging the mutual benefits of such visits for enhancing bilateral relations. He also appreciated the contribution of Azerbaijan Army servicemen to the “Resolute Support” non-combat mission in Afghanistan and emphasized the importance of developing further cooperation.

The meeting concluded with discussions on new perspectives for military cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States.
