Azerbaijan Discloses Details on State Debt Servicing and External Public Debt


Baku: As of January 1, 2025, Azerbaijan’s state budget has allocated 1,295.6 million manat for servicing state debt and obligations, APA-Economics reports citing the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan. Of these expenditures, payments on domestic state debt amount to 170.3 million manat in interest, while foreign state debt required 1,125.2 million manat, with 850.0 million manat allocated to principal debt and 275.2 million manat to interest debt, totaling 1,295.5 million manat.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, a portion of the expenditures related to servicing the state debt planned in the 2024 state budget, amounting to 0.1 million manat, was saved during the year. This saved amount was transferred to the ‘Guarantee Fund for Obligations on State Debt and Guarantees’ in accordance with Article 13.2.4 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan ‘On State Debt’.



Considering operational information on the use of funds within the framework of projects continuing through external borrowing and principal payments on external public debt, the level of external public debt as of January 1, 2025, stands at 5 billion 160 million US dollars. This represents 6.9 percent of the GDP for 2024.
