Baku: The Media and Broadcasting Council has been established in Azerbaijan, APA reports. The establishment comes as a result of President Ilham Aliyev's decree regarding the implementation of amendments to the laws "On Civil Service" and "On Media."

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the decree designates the Media and Broadcasting Council as the legal successor to the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This transition includes the transfer of rights, obligations, and property to the newly established Council.

The decree specifies that the Media and Broadcasting Council will operate with a staffing limit of 108 positions. It also approves the organizational structure for the Council.

Additionally, the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been abolished, with its rights, obligations, and property being transferred to the Media and Broadcasting Council, as stipulated by the decree.
