Baku: Azerbaijan has taken a significant step towards improving its waste management policies with the establishment of the State Agency for Waste Management. This development follows a Decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev aimed at enhancing waste management processes across the nation.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the newly formed agency will operate under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. The agency is tasked with state supervision, regulation, and coordination related to various aspects of waste management. This includes the generation, collection, sorting, transportation, placement, processing, use, utilization, neutralization, and burial of waste. Additionally, the agency will also be responsible for the collection of waste fees.
The establishment of the agency marks an important move in Azerbaijan's efforts to streamline and improve waste management practices. It reflects the government's commitment to addressing environmental concerns and ensuring effective management of waste resources.
