Baku: Azerbaijan reported a decline in its mining industry production value for the first five months of this year, amounting to 16.2 billion manat, marking a 2.4% decrease compared to the same period last year.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Statistical Committee’s monthly report reveals that crude oil and natural gas production comprised 14,854.4 million manat of the total value, representing a 2.3% annual decrease.

The detailed report highlights the various sectors within the mining industry, showing a total production value of 16,173.7 million manat, down 2.4% from the previous year. The production of crude oil and natural gas specifically registered a 97.7% performance compared to the previous period. In contrast, the mining of metal ores saw a significant increase of 75.7%, and other sectors of the mining industry experienced an 18.4% growth. However, services provided to the mining industry fell to 85.9%.

The report also outlines that Azerbaijan produced 11.4 million tons of commercial oil and 16.2 billion cubic meters of commercial natural gas. Commercial oil production saw a 4.9% decrease, whereas commercial gas production increased by 1.7% from the previous year. Crude oil production, including gas condensate, was recorded at 11,438.3 thousand tons, reflecting a 4.9% decrease, while natural gas production reached 20,910.8 million cubic meters, slightly increasing by 0.2%.
