Baku: In Azerbaijan, the volume of goods transported by maritime transport in January-May 2025 amounted to 3,745.6 thousand tons, marking a 12.2 percent increase compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, 47% of the transported goods during this period were oil cargoes.
It is noted that loading and unloading operations amounting to 5,704.4 thousand tons were carried out by sea ports, and transit cargoes accounted for 4,663.5 thousand tons or 81.8% of the goods. The report also highlights that as of June 1, 2025, the volume of cargo remaining in the ports was 220.1 thousand tons.
During the period, the number of passengers transported by this mode of transport decreased by 4.6% compared to the corresponding period of 2024, amounting to 10.4 thousand people, the report emphasizes.
