BAKU: The number of electric vehicles in Azerbaijan has surged by 60 percent in the first nine months of this year, as reported by Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Elmin Mammadov at the “Sustainable Transport for the Future” event.

According to Trend News Agency, Mammadov emphasized the importance of expanding the network of charging stations to support this growth. The country has currently installed 184 charging stations, marking a significant advancement in its sustainable transport sector. Mammadov highlighted that digitalization is enhancing the quality of transport services. As a signatory to the Paris Agreement, Azerbaijan is committed to taking actionable steps towards sustainability. Plans for the coming year include expanding the railway fleet with new trains, as well as implementing initiatives to ensure traffic safety and promote environmentally friendly vehicles. Additional sustainability projects are also in the pipeline as part of the government’s modernization efforts.
