Baku: Azerbaijan has decided to extend its hunting season until March 1, 2026. This decision was made during the latest meeting of the 'Coordination Council on Hunting Issues' at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, as reported by Arzu Babayeva, an official from the Biodiversity Conservation Service.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the extension follows the completion of a winter bird census across the country. Observations by specialists have indicated that bird populations are stable. Considering the current conditions, the characteristics of the birds' wintering period, and requests from hunting enthusiasts, it was deemed suitable to prolong the hunting season.
Babayeva stressed the importance of hunters adhering strictly to existing legislation. Citizens are required to hunt within established limits and must obtain legal permits. Hunting is prohibited in certain areas, including national parks and state nature reserves, to ensure conservation efforts are maintained.
