Baku: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has extended his country's support to Trkiye as it prepares to host the UN Climate Change Conference (COP31). According to TRTworld.com, Bayramov announced this support during the opening ceremony of the 4th Climate Week (CW4) under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Baku. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between nations in addressing the climate crisis and its far-reaching impacts. As experts and policymakers gathered in Baku, Bayramov underscored Azerbaijan's commitment to maintaining momentum towards COP31. "In this period of a shared duty, I wish to reaffirm Azerbaijan's unwavering brotherly support to Trkiye as they prepare to host the next COP," Bayramov stated. Highlighting cooperation between the COP29 and COP31 presidencies as a model of regional solidarity, he noted that this partnership aims to ensure continuity in the climate agenda, develop ambitious climate finance mechanisms, and sustainably advance global climat e action. Bayramov also expressed Azerbaijan's readiness to continue playing an active role in driving progress on the climate agenda. He cited "decisive" domestic actions, such as expanding the country's renewable energy capacity, as evidence of Azerbaijan's commitment. Additionally, he reiterated Baku's dedication to advancing climate diplomacy and related fields on the international level. COP31 will take place in Antalya, Trkiye, from November 9-20, bringing together senior officials and experts to address the climate crisis globally. Azerbaijan previously hosted the 2024 edition of the UN event, demonstrating its ongoing involvement in international climate initiatives.
