Azerbaijan Extradites Fraud Suspect to Uzbekistan

Baku: Azerbaijan has extradited Arslan Bekpulat Kholmurzayev to Uzbekistan, following a request from the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan. Kholmurzayev, an Uzbek citizen born in 1995, faces criminal charges related to fraud in Uzbekistan. His extradition marks a significant step in the ongoing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in combating crime.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Kholmurzayev was detained in Azerbaijan in January after being placed on international wanted lists for fraud causing substantial financial damage. The decision to extradite him was made under the “Convention on Legal Aid and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters” dated October 7, 2002.

The extradition process involved the coordination of multiple legal entities, and Kholmurzayev was transferred to Uzbekistan under the supervision of a special convoy from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Justice’s Penitentiary Service. This development highlights the effective collaboration between the two countries in legal and criminal matters.
