Baku: An Indian citizen detained in Azerbaijan has been extradited to his home country, the Press Service of the Prosecutor General's Office told APA. The extradition follows a request from Indian authorities for Singh Prabhdeep Gurraj, born in 1993, who was placed on an international wanted list due to charges related to the trafficking of 354 kilograms of heroin.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan forwarded the extradition request to the Baku Court on Grave Crimes. Singh Prabhdeep Gurraj was identified in Azerbaijan, where authorities imposed a preventive arrest measure on him. This action was in compliance with the Agreement 'On Extradition between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of India' dated April 4, 2013.
Under the terms of this agreement, a decision was reached to extradite Gurraj. He was subsequently handed over to Indian authorities, escorted by a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, thus completing the extradition process.
