Baku: Azerbaijan has successfully extradited a man suspected of premeditated murder from Germany. This development comes as part of the Ministry of Justice’s ongoing efforts to collaborate with international bodies to apprehend and extradite individuals wanted for crimes.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the Ministry of Justice reported that on December 10, the extradition of Samik Babayev, a Ukrainian citizen, was executed. Babayev had been internationally wanted by the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Azerbaijan. He is accused of premeditated murder committed for greed or by contract, as stated under Article 120.2.5 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

Babayev was located and arrested in Germany, following a request from Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office. The Ministry of Justice provided the necessary documentation under international procedures, facilitating Babayev’s extradition. He was transported to Azerbaijan by officials from the Ministry’s Main Department of International Cooperation and the Penitentiary Service and is now held at the Baku Pretrial Detention Facility.

The Ministry of Justice emphasizes its commitment to continue such measures in collaboration with foreign states to bring international fugitives to justice.
