Baku: Azerbaijan has extradited two Uzbek citizens, Raxmatullo Nomancanovich Mirzaalimov and Azamatcon Abduqapparovich Toxtasinov, who were internationally wanted for serious criminal charges in Uzbekistan. This development marks a significant step in the ongoing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in combating crime, as confirmed by the Press Service of the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the extradition was executed following requests from the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan. The two individuals are accused of embezzlement by a group acting with prior collusion, through the misuse of official positions, which caused substantial financial damage. They are also charged with the use of forged documents leading to severe consequences. Mirzaalimov and Toxtasinov were placed on the international wanted list and were apprehended in Azerbaijan in April 2026, where they were subsequently held under pre-trial detention.

The extradition was conducted under the framework of the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters, dated October 7, 2002. The accused were handed over to Uzbek authorities, escorted by a special convoy from the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, ensuring their return to face justice in their home country.
