Baku: Azerbaijan recently chaired important online meetings of the Special Working Group and the Senior Officials Committee for the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building in Asia (CICA). These meetings, held on December 15 and 17, 2025, focused on enhancing cooperation and interaction among CICA Member States.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, discussions during the meetings covered essential aspects of cooperation within the Conference and its advisory bodies. This included planning and conceptualizing confidence-building measures and related events planned for the year 2026.

Member States also shared perspectives on the institutional development of CICA, particularly its ongoing transformation into an international organization. This transformation aligns with the decision made during the 6th CICA Summit. Participants expressed their support for the Chairmanship’s efforts in this direction.

During the Senior Officials Committee session, the Secretary General presented the annual report detailing CICA’s activities under Azerbaijan’s Chairmanship in 2025. The Committee reviewed and approved decisions related to the CICA Plan of Implementation of Confidence-Building Measures and the 2026 budget for the CICA Secretariat, along with other procedural decisions.
