Azerbaijan Implements Renewable Energy Supply for Industrial Parks

Baku: Industrial parks in Azerbaijan will soon be powered by electricity generated from renewable energy sources. President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree to facilitate this transition, as reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the decree mandates the Cabinet of Ministers to ensure that the electricity needs of industrial parks, including power generated from renewable sources under guaranteed tariffs, are incorporated into the national energy balance. The decree also requires the Cabinet to address any additional matters that may arise from this new policy.

The managing organization of state-established industrial parks is tasked with ensuring the supply of renewable energy in accordance with contracts signed with both resident and non-resident entities. This supply must adhere to the requirements set out in Article 19.3 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan ‘On Electric Power Industry.’

Furthermore, ‘Azerenerji’ OJSC and ‘Azerishiq’ OJSC are instructed to finalize the necessary contracts to facilitate the supply of renewable electricity through the existing transmission and distribution network. This move is part of Azerbaijan’s broader strategy to integrate more sustainable energy sources into its industrial sector.
