Azerbaijan Imposes New Fees on Mobile Phone Registrations

Baku: Azerbaijan has introduced a 100 manat registration fee for individuals bringing more than one mobile phone into the country within a calendar year. This new fee is part of broader regulations reflected in the draft law “On the State Budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026,” which also includes an excise tax on mobile devices.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the excise tax will be levied on mobile devices imported into Azerbaijan, in addition to the existing customs duty. Legal entities importing mobile devices for sale will face an excise tax of 20 manat per device. The aim of these measures is to regulate the import of mobile devices and generate additional revenue for the state budget.

The newly introduced registration fee and excise tax underscore Azerbaijan’s efforts to manage the influx of mobile devices and align with economic objectives outlined in the state budget proposal.
