Azerbaijan Initiates Criminal Case Following Mine Explosion Injuring Serviceman

Kalbajar: A criminal case has been launched by the Kalbajar Military Prosecutor’s Office under Article 29.120.2.12 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to attempted deliberate murder motivated by national enmity or hatred. This action follows an incident in which serviceman Khudaverdi Sadigov from a military unit of the Ministry of Defense sustained multiple injuries due to an anti-personnel mine explosion. The Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan communicated this development to APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, a preliminary investigation is currently underway. The incident occurred on May 29, at approximately 10:10, as engineer-sapper units of the Azerbaijan Army were engaged in clearing mines and unexploded ordnance near the Istisu settlement in the Kalbajar region. Azerbaijani serviceman Khudaverdi Sadigov was wounded by an anti-personnel mine, reportedly planted by Armenians, resulting in an injury to his left leg, as confirmed by the Ministry of Defense.

Immediate first aid was administered to Sadigov, and he was subsequently evacuated to the nearest military hospital for further examination and treatment.
