Azerbaijan Initiates Criminal Case Over Forest Fire in Lachin, Suspects Detained

Lachin: Azerbaijan’s authorities have initiated a criminal case following a forest fire in the mountainous region around Hochaz and Mollalar villages in the Lachin district. The fire, which occurred on July 16, was attributed to negligent behavior, as reported by the Press Services of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, investigations revealed that a bonfire made by three residents of Sus village led to the fire spreading across a 14-hectare area with challenging terrain. The police have detained the suspects and brought them to criminal responsibility.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing. Meanwhile, the MES State Fire Protection Service continues its efforts to extinguish the fire in the affected area.
