Baku: Azerbaijan has commenced the first-ever delivery of oil products to Armenia following the lifting of trade restrictions. This move comes after President Ilham Aliyev’s recent decision to ease the transit of goods from Azerbaijan to Armenia, a policy change effective from October. The restrictions had been in place since the period of occupation.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is responsible for this initial shipment. The consignment consists of 1,220 tons of AI-95 motor fuel. This fuel is being transported in 22 railway wagons managed by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC. The goods are departing from the Baku Cargo Terminal and are destined for the Boyuk Kesik station.

From Boyuk Kesik, the cargo is set to continue its journey to Armenia through Georgia. This development marks a significant step in the economic interactions between the neighboring countries.
