Baku: Azerbaijan has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle over 6 kilograms of drugs across its border from Iran. On August 22, an incident involving an attempt to breach the state border from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan was intercepted in the area supervised by the “Goytapa” border detachment of the Border Troops of the State Border Service.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Press Center of the State Border Service reported that through effective border search and operational measures conducted in the region, authorities managed to seize a total of 6 kilograms and 95 grams of marijuana. Additionally, 150 Gelopain-400 tablets, 60 Portal 0.4 tablets, and 60 Sigomet tablets were discovered and confiscated.

The report further indicated that operational-investigative measures regarding the incident are currently ongoing.
