Azerbaijan Introduces 14 Days of Paid Paternity Leave for Men

Baku: Men in Azerbaijan will now receive 14 calendar days of paid leave surrounding the birth of a child, based on a medical certificate. This development comes following the amendments to the Labor Code, sanctioned by a decree from President Ilham Aliyev.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the existing provision allowed men to request up to 14 calendar days of unpaid leave within a working year if their wives were on maternity leave. The recent amendment aims to promote gender equality by offering men 14 days of paid leave, covering both pre- and postnatal periods, contingent on a medical certificate.
