Azerbaijan Introduces New Standard for Green Business Management


BAKU: Azerbaijan has officially implemented a new state standard, AZS 962:2024, aimed at enhancing green business management practices, as reported by the Trend News Agency.

According to Trend News Agency, the Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND), operating under the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control at the Ministry of Economy, announced the adoption of this standard. The AZS 962:2024 standard is designed to minimize the negative impacts of enterprises and organizations on the environment while promoting rational resource use and increased environmental responsibility.

The standard outlines several key principles to be integrated into organizational management systems, including environmental financial management, sustainable supply chain management, environmental sustainability, and environmental innovation. These components aim to foster a more sustainable economic environment across various sectors.

The development and approval of the AZS 962:2024 standard involved tho
rough discussions by the technical committees on standardization “Conformity Assessment” (AZSTAND/TK 08) and “Ecology” (AZSTAND/TK 09). These discussions were part of the draft standard initially presented by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) initiatives and resulted in a consensus that led to its formal adoption and submission for approval.
