BAKU: The Azerbaijan Army marked the Day of Restoration of Independence with a series of events held across various military corps, formations, units, and special educational institutions. These activities, organized on October 18, were aimed at honoring the memory of those who contributed to the nation’s sovereignty and independence, as stated by the Ministry of Defense.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the commemorations began with a minute of silence in remembrance of Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, and the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This was followed by the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Speakers at the events underscored the pivotal role played by Heydar Aliyev in laying the foundations of the modern Azerbaijani state. They emphasized his strategic vision in preserving and strengthening the country’s independence. The continuation of Aliyev’s policies under the leade
rship of his successor, President Ilham Aliyev, was also highlighted. It was noted that Azerbaijan is currently experiencing a significant period of growth and development, characterized by adherence to the rule of law, democracy, and secular principles, thanks to President Ilham Aliyev’s insightful leadership.
The events featured the screening of patriotic documentaries, artistic performances, and visits to the graves of martyrs and historical museums, reinforcing the spirit of patriotism and respect for the nation’s history.
